2009 Spring Training Preview: Detroit Tigers
The Tigers, coming into the 2008 season with aspirations of going to the World Series, finished up a74-88 and in last place in the AL Central. Injuries, lack of production, and some bad luck contributed to this, but the fact remains that the 2008 team was built to go to the postseason. The Tigers go into 2009 with a slightly revised lineup and rotation, as SS Edgar Renteria is gone, replaced by Adam... (posted by Chuck 3 years 105 days ago.)

2009 Spring Training Preview: Cincinnati Reds
The 2008 Cincinnati Reds finished in fifth place in the NL Central, coming in with a record of 74-88. Their 2009 team will look significantly different from the team that opened the 2008 season, as Ken Griffey Jr. departed during the season in a trade to the Chicago White Sox, and it appears that Adam Dunn will most likely not be back. Taking their place as the future core of the Reds are OF Jay Bruce... (posted by Chuck 3 years 118 days ago.)

2009 Spring Training Preview: Chicago White Sox
The White Sox won the AL Central in 2008, but hardly did it in impressive fashion, managing only 88 wins and actually finishing in a tie with Minnesota for the best record in the division. While their pitching was solid, they were handicapped by an inconsistent offense that didn't really have enough firepower to do a lot of damage. They saw the emergence of Carlos Quentin in the outfield and the maturation... (posted by Chuck 3 years 120 days ago.)

2009 Spring Training Preview: Chicago Cubs
The Cubs finished up a superb 2008 season by winning the NL Central in relatively easy fashion with a final record of 97-64, with one game being cancelled due to inclement weather. Unfortunately, the Cubs were then swept by the Los Angeles Dodgers in three games in the Divisional Series, leading to yet another crushing exit for Cubs fans to deal with over the winter. The outlook for 2009 still looks strong... (posted by Chuck 3 years 121 days ago.)

2009 Spring Training Preview: Boston Red Sox
The Red Sox made it to within one game of the 2008 World Series despite being battered by injuries and lacking the potent offensive punch that had been the hallmark of their team during the early half of the decade. What we saw instead was a team that placed a premium on defense andp itching, using a an offense that was still above-average to win more close games than in the past. The Sox looked to...
